Martin's nickname may have been "Grumpy" but in reality he was a happy-go-lucky, gentle giant that lit up any room he entered. His 6'5 stature made him stand out in a crowd but it was the way he made everyone around him smile that is remembered the most.
Martin was born in Epping, a suburb outside of London England. He had two younger siblings,Debbie and Paul. His loving parents Michael and Celia Wortley moved the family to the UnitedStates when Martin was 7 years, settling in northern New Jersey.
Martin loved outdoor activities. Some of his favorites were boating, skiing, riding motorcycles, and of course playing football. He played football at Mahwah high school and went on to play atEast Stroudsburg University. Along the way he developed great bonds with several teammates, some becoming his closest friends.
Martin married Karen, his college sweetheart, and became a very successful broker working forCantor Fitzgerald in the World Trade Center.
Sadly, he was taken from us at the very young age of 29. On 9/11/01 a wonderful son, brother, husband, friend and all around amazing guy was lost. Martin is lovingly remembered everyday through the memories and smiles he created with all of us.
