The September11 UK Families Support Group (S11UKFSG) is planning to publish a commemorative book in May 2022, to mark the 20th anniversary of its formation.
As the events of 9/11 were a key defining moment at the beginning of the 21st century, having a record of events told through the experiences of a group of UK bereaved families is the book’s unique feature, especially as the families represent a lesser-known cohort of 9/11 families; much focus has been on the impact of US victims’ families.
The book will contain material pertinent for future research and educational purposes. We also believe that our account could inspire other people affected by terrorism and disaster to build a community, have a voice and support each other, offering to some degree our experience of organising ourselves as a template to the setting up and development of a family support group.
